JAKARTA - The City Government (Pemkot) of East Jakarta (Jaktim) temporarily relocated fire victims on Swadaya Street PLN, RT 13/RW 02, Jatinegara, Cakung to flats (rusun).

East Jakarta Mayor Muhammad Anwar, as reported by Antara, on September 1, said that the relocation was aimed at providing 150 residents affected by the fires with a more decent place to spend the night compared to living in refugee camps.

“It's a pity that in a tent like that, there are toddlers. I am worried that his health will continue to decline, especially toddlers who need attention," said Muhammad Anwar.

Anwar also asked the ranks of the Cakung Sub-district and Jatinegara Sub-district to work together with the RT/RW management to collect data on the affected residents so that they could be moved to the Flats.

"So that it can be coordinated with the Public Housing and Residential Areas of the East Jakarta Administration, to occupy the nearest flat," he said.

Meanwhile, the Cakung sub-district head, Fajar Eko Satrio, said that the temporary relocation plan to the Rusun was carried out during the process of rebuilding the residents' houses.

"We will immediately coordinate with the Public Housing and Settlement Areas Sub-Department for the temporary transfer of fire victims to Flats," said Fajar.

Previously, a fire destroyed 40 houses in a densely populated residential area of ​​Swadaya Street RT 13/2, Cakung District, East Jakarta on Monday, August 29 at around 03.24 WIB.
