KALTENG - The Lamandau Regency Government in Central Kalimantan Province (Kateng) is trying to build collective awareness of citizens to maintain cleanliness and handle waste.

The Regent of Lamandau, Hendra Lesmana, asked all regional officials to work together to educate the public to increase their awareness in maintaining cleanliness and handling waste in their respective environments.

"Together, we must unite to fix the problem of cleanliness, both by regional officials and the community," he said in Nanga Bulik, Central Kalimantan, quoted from Antara, Sunday, May 15.

"Not only to the general public, but also to the younger generation and children so that from an early age they have good awareness in managing the environment," he added.

The Regent emphasized the importance of citizen participation in waste management efforts, including sorting and processing household waste.

Sorting waste by type at the household level will make it easier for waste-handling officers to manage and process it.

The regent also encouraged residents to work together regularly to clean up residential areas.

The synergy between the government, the community, and relevant stakeholders in handling waste and maintaining a clean environment, according to him, will smooth out Lamandau's efforts to get the Adipura award.

"It takes hard work and commitment from all parties to achieve Adipura, such as focusing on certain points which are indicators of assessment," said the Lamandau Regent.
