Minister Of Health Budi: Government Provides Assistance Of IDR 17.52 Billion To 326 Patients Who Fail Acute Kidney Failure

JAKARTA - Indonesian Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin said the government would provide assistance of Rp. 17.52 billion to people with Atypical Acute Kidney Failure (GGAPA).The process of distributing aid to GGAPA sufferers is not entirely carried out by the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes). This is because the Ministry of Health's main task is only in the financing process, not compensation."We can't release the compensation, because we as the Ministry of Health can't provide compensation, that's the main task of other ministries," he said at the Commission IX Working Meeting of the Indonesian House of Representatives which was attended online in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Tuesday, November 7.Based on data reported by the Ministry of Health, as many as 326 GGAPA sufferers will receive the compensation, with details of 204 patients who died will be given compensation of Rp. 50 million per person. So that the total compensation funds spent for patients who died amounted to Rp. 10.2 billion.Meanwhile, 122 recovered patients will be given compensation of Rp. 60 million, consisting of Rp. 50 million in assistance and Rp. 10 million for medical financing. So that the total compensation funds spent for patients who recover are Rp. 7.32 billion, where all GGAPA health service financing is borne by the National Health Insurance (JKN) program."The compensation is given by the government, and later given by the Ministry of Social Affairs. Now, the budget shouldn't be a problem, it can already be obtained," said Budi. The Minister of Health said that currently the Ministry of Social Affairs is in the process of verifying the heirs and sufferers, so that compensation can be given faster. He also hopes that assistance can be given immediately."This is one of our debts to the DPR," said Minister of Health Budi.
To note, the GGAPA case occurred because a number of patients were poisoned by EG (Ethylene glycol) and DEG (Dietilen glycol) compounds which are usually used as solvents in liquid or sirop drugs. GGAPA sufferers are spread across 27 provinces with the highest cases in DKI Jakarta Province.
