Meth Smuggling From Malaysia Thwarted By Sambas Pamtas Task Force

SAMBAS - Head of Information for the XII/Tpr Regional Military Command, Colonel Inf Ade Rizal Muharram, said that the RI-Malaysia Civil Service Task Force Yonarmed 16/Tumbak Kaputing again thwarted an attempt to smuggle 15.75 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine.

"This arrest was made on the unofficial border route at Sempadan Hamlet, Temajuk Village, Paloh District, Sambas Regency, last night," said Ade Rizal in Pontianak, West Kalimantan (Kalbar), ANTARA, Sunday, October 29.

He explained that from the report from Dansatgas Yonarmed 16/TK, Major Arm Andreas, the smuggling attempt was thwarted by personnel from the Temajuk Gabma Post together with the TNI BAIS Task Force while carrying out a silent patrol.

The methamphetamine smuggling case occurred on Saturday night, October 28, at around 22.30 WIB when a joint patrol team found four men trying to enter Indonesian territory through unofficial routes. When stopped, one person fled back towards Malaysian territory, while three people were arrested along with their belongings.

"When questioned, it was discovered that two people with the initials MN (43) and MR (53) were residents of Sarawak Malaysia and one person with the initials W (41) came from Paloh, Sambas," he said.

From the luggage checked by patrol team personnel, methamphetamine weighing approximately 15.75 kilograms was found wrapped in 15 boxes of Chinese tea.

Kapendam said that currently the three perpetrators were detained at the Temajuk Gabma Post for a temporary examination by the Yonarmed 16/TK Task Force.

"This incident has been reported to the leadership, according to the perpetrator's plan and the evidence will be handed over to the relevant parties for further legal proceedings," he said.
