Vice President Ma'ruf: Vocational Training Strengthened To Fulfill Global Work Market Demands

Vice President (Vice President) Ma'ruf Amin said the government was strengthening vocational education and training programs to meet global job market demands.

"Strengthening vocational training is a policy response in order to meet the demands of the workforce in various industrial sectors, including the increasingly competitive global service sector and work market," he said at the opening of the 2023 Vocational Training Festival in Jakarta, Friday, October 27.

In an effort to increase the competitiveness of the workforce through education and vocational training, Presidential Regulation Number 68 of 2022 concerning the Revitalization of Vocational Education and Vocational Training was issued.

The Vice President stated the need for adjustments to the revitalization of vocational education to the needs of the labor market.

"Revitalization plans must also improve the implementation of education and vocational training so that they continue to be relevant to the needs of the labor market," he said.

At the opening of the Vocational Training Festival 2023 which took place from 27 to 29 October at the Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran, the Vice President also emphasized the importance of improving the quality of the workforce.

"The development of human resources requires high commitment and synergy across stakeholders. Don't just excel in quantity, but forget the quality, both physically, character, work ethic, discipline, skills, and intellectually," he said.

The Vocational Training Festival 2023 includes training exhibitions and vocational products, national job exchanges, seminars, certification, employment services, skill competitions, and meetings of the vocational training ecosystem.
