Prosecutors Detain Sukabumi Pegadaian Officials Suspected Of Corruption

SUKABUMI - The Sukabumi City District Attorney (Kejari) has named an official at the Sukabumi Service Branch Pegadaian Office with the initials NS who serves as Head of the Micro Business Unit (KUBM) as a suspect.

"From the results of the investigation and it was increased to an investigation by the suspect NS, it is suspected that he has committed a criminal act of corruption in the form of fictitious credit at the Sukabumi Service Branch Pegadaian Office during the 2019-2021 period. As a result of his actions, the state suffered a loss of Rp. 742.3 million," said the Head of the Sukabumi District Attorney's Office, Setiyowati, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, October 23.

The suspect's mode of misappropriation of state money for the micro-product credit program is by manipulating customer data, both those who are still active and those who have paid off credit, then the data of residents who apply for credit but are rejected or canceled.

Currently, NS is still being investigated as a suspect by investigators from the Special Crime Section (Pidsus) of the Sukabumi City Attorney General's Office.

After undergoing the examination, NS was immediately detained and deposited in Nyomplong Class IIB Prison, Sukabumi City for the next 20 days for investigation purposes and waiting for the case file to be transferred to the West Java Corruption Court.

"The arrest and determination of the suspect against NS was after the Sukabumi City Attorney General's Office investigators obtained sufficient evidence and information. Then the reason we detained the suspect was because he was worried about running away or eliminating evidence," he added.
