Yogyakarta Regional Police Investigate Train Accident In Kalimenur Kulon Progo
YOGYAKARTA - Yogyakarta Police Chief Inspector General Suwondo Nainggolan ordered to immediately evacuate the train carriage that had an accident in Kalimenur, Kalurahan Sukoreno, Kulon Progo Regency, so that the train travel flow returns to normal immediately.
"The National Police and KAI will immediately explore the real cause of the accident to prevent a repeat of incidents like this in the future," said Suwondo Nainggolan at the KalimenurKulon Progo Station Post, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 17.
A train accident occurred in the Kalimenur area, Kapanewon Sentolo, Kulon Progo Regency involving two trains, namely the Argo Semeru Train and Argo Wilis Train, Tuesday (17/10) around 13.30 WIB.
The accident occurred as a result of the fall of the Argo Semeru Train heading for Surabaya -Jakarta and then crossing the Argo Wilis Train to Bandung-Surabaya.
"Also ensure whether there are victims outside the passenger or not and always place members to secure the location, ensure the safety of the person in charge," ordered the Yogyakarta Regional Police Chief Suwondo Nainggolan.
Meanwhile, Kulonprogo Police Chief AKBP Nunuk Setiyowati said the chronology of the incident began when at 13.20 WIB residents heard the sound of a train about to pass, after a few moments of hearing a loud sound and seeing the Argo Semeru train slipping from the railroad tracks and causing the carriage to get off the rail.
Then at 13.23 WIB, Argo Wilis Train from the west passed.
Given that the distance that was very close to the train accident was inevitable, because the Argo Semeru train with 472 passengers who had previously slipped ate the Argo Wilis Railway line with 288 passengers.

As a result of this incident, the passengers had been evacuated using the airport train to Wates Station twice, namely at 15.00 WIB and 16.00 WIB. And currently the evacuation of the two trains is still being carried out by waiting for equipment from PT KAI.
"The number of victims of this accident is 31 people, with information of minor injuries 28 were treated at the location, while three people were referred to Queen Latifah Hospital with details of one hospitalization and two people have been allowed to go home," he said.
