Revision Of PKPU For The Age Requirements For Presidential And Vice Presidential Candidates, KPU Will Consult To The DPR
The General Election Commission (KPU) will revise Article 13 paragraph (1) letter q of KPU Regulation Number 19 of 2023 concerning the Age Requirements for Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates. The preparation of the draft PKPU changes will be carried out by consulting with the DPR.
This revision follows the reading of the Constitutional Court Decision Number 90/PUU-XXI/2023 concerning material testing against the provisions of Article 169 letter q of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections which regulates the age limit for presidential and vice-presidential candidates of at least 40 years.
"Later we will prepare a draft amendment or revision of the KPU regulations and we will convey it to the government and to the DPR, in this case, Commission II of the DPR in the near future," said KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari, Monday, October 16 evening.
Hasyim explained that the KPU would write at least addressed to two parties, the DPR and government institutions.
"The KPU must repose it by sending letters to two parties. Because in the Election Law, in the formation of PKPU, it is stated that it must consult with the DPR and the government," said Hasyim.
