Proven Corruption, Former Chairman Of KONI Tapsel Sentenced To One Year In Prison
The panel of judges at the Medan District Court sentenced Zulkifli Lubis, the former General Chair of the South Tapanuli Regency KONI (Tapsel), North Sumatra.
The defendant was proven guilty of corruption in KONI grant funds sourced from the South Tapanuli Regency APBD for the 2019-2021 fiscal year worth IDR 1,005,617,863.
In addition, the panel of judges also sentenced Rudy Saputra's partner as Director of CV. Mekar Abadi to 12 months in prison. "Two defendants were also subject to a fine of Rp. 50 million, subsidiary to three months in prison," said Chief Judge Dahlan at the Medan District Court, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 11.
"Meanwhile, the aggravating things for the two defendants did not support the government's program in eradicating corruption and hampering the development of sports in South Tapanuli Regency," he said.
For mitigating matters, the two defendants have returned state finances, and have never been convicted.
"Therefore, the money that has been returned by the defendant was confiscated for the state," said Dahlan.

After the panel of judges read out the verdict, the defendant, legal advisers (PH) and the Public Prosecutor of the South Tapanuli Kejari were given seven days to think about accepting or appealing the decision.
This decision is lighter than the demands of the South Tapanuli Prosecutor's Office, Ivan Damarwulan, for 1.5 years, a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to three months.
In addition, the two defendants were charged with replacement money (UP) of Rp. 1,005,617,863 if it was not sufficient to be replaced with nine months in prison.
