Luna Maya Supports Government Regarding TikTok Shop Closing
JAKARTA - The Indonesian government officially closed the TikTok Shop on Wednesday, October 4 at 17.00 WIB. The prohibition of selling on TikTok is contained in the Regulation of the Minister of Trade Number 31 of 2023 concerning Business Licensing, Advertising, Development, and Supervision of Business Actors in Trade Through the Electronic System. The regulation is a revision of the Minister of Trade Regulation Number 50 of 2020.
Penutupan TikTok Shop ini membuat sejumlah selebritas menyayangkan keputusan pemerintah. Namun, tidak dengan Luna Maya. Meski ia mengaku terkena dampaknya, tetapi secara personal mendukung keputusan ini.
For Luna Maya, the decisions taken by the government are of course for the good of the Indonesian people as well. This was said by her because she understood well the reasons behind this government choice.
"If you ask about the impact, it's quite a hit, but honestly I personally support the government. Because I'm sure this is actually to protect us too, Indonesian people. So if I'm in principle, if you ask me, it will be affected, especially since a lot of our income comes from TikTok Shop," said Luna Maya in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, Thursday, October 5.
"But indeed in terms of regulations, if we know how the situation is, we will definitely find out first, 'oh, it turns out that the story is like this', so we have to support the government. Incidentally, if I know the story, I'll just support it. Maybe it will be facilitated later," he continued.

Even so, Maxime Bouttier's lover hopes that in the future TikTok Shop can return with clearer permission. Because for Luna, TikTok also has a big enough role in its brands as well.
"Maybe TikTok can turn into a TikTok Shop with a permit. Yes, because after all, my brand is also big on TikTok, so if TikTok has an e-commerce TikTok Shop, it will be very helpful," he explained.
"But because yesterday the regulations were that social media was not allowed to be the same as e-com, so TikTok should also follow the provisions so that the rules are clear," he continued.
