Fugitive Since 2004, 2 Chinese Citizens Arrested by Director General of Immigration While Dinner in Pluit Area
JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights arrested two Chinese foreign nationals (WNA) who had been on the government's wanted list since 2004.
Director General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Silmy Karim, said that the two foreigners with the initials WJ and WC (41) were arrested in the Pluit area, Jakarta, last Friday while having dinner.
The two perpetrators fled from China to Indonesia using passports in the names of citizens of other countries who had facial similarities to them. WJ used a Chinese passport in the name of Li Xiaqing and WC had a passport in the name of Weng Cheng.
"They entered Indonesia with different data and had similar faces", he said at a press conference in Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, October 4.
The Chinese ambassador to Indonesia wrote to them on August 31 2023 to look for the two perpetrators who fled their country to Indonesia.
The Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights is coordinating with the Chinese Embassy in Jakarta and the country's police regarding the whereabouts of WJ and WC.
After receiving the letter, they immediately looked for the two perpetrators, which took a month and on September 29 2023, the Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights received information that the two of them were at the same restaurant and were arrested.
There was resistance but it was overcome well by the joint team. In accordance with Article 75 Paragraph (3) of Law Number 6/2011, the two fugitives will be immediately deported to their country of origin because they are in Indonesia to avoid carrying out punishment in their country of origin.

"We are coordinating with the PRC government regarding the deportation of these two perpetrators", he said.
