Not Accepting His Son Died When Detained, Family Asks Banyumas Police To Completely Investigate
PURWOKERTO - The Jakam family asked the City Police (Polresta) of Banyumas, Central Java, to thoroughly investigate the case of the death of his son, OK (26), in detention. OK was arrested on suspicion of theft.
"I do not accept that my son died in such conditions. I want the perpetrators to be punished," said Jakam (51) at his home, Purwasari Village, Baturraden District, Banyumas Regency, Monday, accompanied by his legal adviser, Silvia Devi Soembarto.
"Indeed, there is video evidence of the arrest. Only three people (police) can be seen," said the Director of the Legal Aid Institute (LBH) for Jokowi United Volunteers (RJB).
When picked up, he said, OK was in good health and fit as seen in the video of the arrest.
However, when OK was picked up by the police, he continued, the Jakam family did not get an arrest warrant and the letter was only given 3 days later.
"On the same date, there was a detention letter with the same date," he explained.
The letter stated that for the next 20 days OK should not be visited. Since then, the family is not aware of OK's whereabouts.
Until finally OK was sent back to his family's house on Friday, June 2 afternoon, accompanied by an ambulance in a dead condition.
Based on information from the police who delivered the body, OK consumed too many alcoholic beverages so that the alcohol content was high and there was kidney failure.
"The family also wanted to see the body, finally closed all kinds of doors and photographed at the funeral home that same day before being buried," said Silvia.
After the cloth that covered the deceased's body was opened, he said, it was known that OK's body had many wounds, such as around the waist, back, calf, knees, and ankles.
Incidentally, he continued, one of OK's cousins, a member of LBH RJB, informed that Jakam's family objected to the condition of his son's body.
"He reported to my staff, then I came here to collect all the evidence. Finally I met with Mr. Kasatreskrim yesterday," he said.
When meeting with the Head of the Banyumas Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Commissioner Agus Supriadi Siswanto, his party received information that OK was indeed arrested by members of the Banyumas Police.
However, the next handling, he said, was positioned or transferred to the Baturraden Police
"The assumption is, whether it is being held at the Baturraden Police or detained at the Banyumas Police because we are still assuming, there is no clear answer. Yesterday, I also conveyed to Kasatreskrim for an autopsy," he said.
He said that his party together with the Jakam family submitted three requests, namely the first in the form of a thorough investigation into the case and the perpetrator must be punished.
"I ask for a thorough investigation and the perpetrator must be punished. I cannot assume who did it, but must be punished," he said.
The second request, he said, was that the Banyumas Police should hold a press conference as transparency and openness to the public.
