Ganjar Affirms The Trans Sumatra Toll Project Must Continue
JAKARTA - The Governor of Central Java as well as the prospective PDI-P presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo emphasized that whoever will be elected president in the 2024 General Election must continue the Trans Sumatra Toll program initiated by President Joko Widodo.
"Anyone who becomes president will have to complete this toll road project because the interconnection is very important," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, May 20.
As one of the presidential readings, Ganjar also admitted that he was ready to continue the Transsumatra program if he was elected as President in 2024. This was revealed by Ganjar after leading the consolidation of South Sumatra PDIP cadres at the Jakabaring Sports Hall, Palembang City.
The development of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road project launched by Jokowi from Lampung to Aceh until early 2023 has spanned 1,064 kilometers.
The details of the Trans Sumatra toll road are 465 km from the construction toll road and 599 km from the operation toll road built by PT Hutama Karya.
Ganjar said the toll road construction has a big impact not only on regional economic growth, but also on people's lives, it will be easier and take an efficient distance between regencies/cities.
"Friends of the provincial DPRD, some of their regents told how important the infrastructure is connecting these regencies/cities. The toll road will boost economic growth and connect existing centers, so it must be completed," he asserted.

Ganjar has also projected that the toll roads, which will later connect industries, can lead to economic growth centers that can greatly affect regional progress in Trans Sumatra.
"When this can be managed properly, the toll exit must lead to industrial centers, economic growth centers. Thus, governors, regents, and mayors must pick up the ball," he said.
