Lukman Sardi Talks About Chairil Anwar's Figure And His Poems
JAKARTA - Lukman Sardi was trusted by Miles Films to play in an anthology film entitled Aku Chairil.
In the film, which was released to coincide with the celebration of National Poem Day, the actor along with six other top Indonesian actors will read the poem by the Badminton Animal.
For the 51-year-old actor, joining the film Aku, Chairil and collaborating with Mira Lesmana and Riri Riza is a valuable opportunity.
He sees Chairil Anwar as an important figure in Indonesian literature.
The figure of Chairil in Indonesian literature is a very large figure. Chairil is someone who broke the pattern of poetry in Indonesia. Maybe it used to be considered a rebel in his seniors. But it is part of an artistic information in Indonesia," said Lukman Sardi when met at the Sarinah Building, Central Jakarta, Friday, April 28.
In the anthology film, Lukman Sardi will read a poem entitled Derai-dera Cemara written by Chairil Anwar in 1949. He called it a challenge for his acting career.
Without a visual explanation, Lukman Sardi tried to interpret the sadness, downturn and defeat that existed in the poetry into his mind. The recording process, recognized by the actor as an interesting journey, especially after seeing the results.
Talking about Chairil Anwar and his works, Lukman Sardi saw that the pioneer of the '45th Indonesian literary world was very clear to express his feelings.
Chairil is very clear about writing down his feelings, it can even be implemented with many things. There is nothing that is in the current generation that cannot understand the poem. Finally I felt and understood what was written," said Lukman Sardi.
