Praised For Acting Antagonist, Lim Ji Yeon: I Want The World To Hate Me
JAKARTA - The name Lim Ji Yeon is increasingly taken into account after starring in the series The Glory. She plays Park Yeon Jin, a woman who bullies Song Hye Kyo's character Moon Dong Eun.
In her latest interview, Lim Ji Yeon admitted that she wanted her character to be hated by the audience. For the first time, she chose the role of the antagonist.
“When I choose a role, I try to make the audience love and connect with my character,” said Lim Ji Yeon, according to The Korea Times.
“But I never developed a character to be hated. And there's kind of a process that arises from that," she continued.
So far, she always gets offers to be the protagonist, so she thinks she will only get offers from the antagonist when she is growing.

“I've always wanted to play the antagonist, but I thought maybe it wasn't until I was in my 40s that I got the offer. But when Yeon Jin came, this was a good opportunity," said Lim Ji Yeon.
“At first I formed Yeon Jin as someone without emotion – like a psychopath. But with all the ideas, I thought I should form a villain, and only Lim Ji Yeon can," she said again.
Lim Ji Yeon's acting was considered successful until she was mistaken for a bully at school. The rumor had circulated even to her school friends.
“There were a lot of responses saying, 'You're a bully, aren't you?' I even received calls from my friends in school," explained Lim Ji Yeon.
“I am an ordinary student. I can't get any significant memories from my school days. I wanted to be an actress since I was young… during my school days, I was an innocent person,” she said.
The second part of The Glory has become the most-watched title since its release in early March. This series was watched by more than 124 million in total, beating a number of titles released at the same time.
