Not Only Support The Aesthetics Of Medan City, 1,700 Street Lights Provide A Sense Of Security While Minimizing Crime
MEDAN - Under the leadership of the Mayor of Medan, Bobby Nasution, the capital city of North Sumatra continues to improve.
One of its manifestations can be seen with the presence of public street lighting (LPJU) which now illuminates a number of streets in Medan City at night.
Apart from adding to the aesthetics of the city, the 1,700 units of LPJU are also meant to be lights for pedestrians.
That way, people can feel safer and more comfortable. In addition, the condition of the road is also bright to prevent crimes committed by criminals, especially street crime.
It was recorded that there were 8 roads that were the installation locations for the 1,700 LPJUs, namely Gatot Subroto Street, Sudirman Street, Tengku Imam Bonjol Street, and Putri Hijau Street. Then, Brigjend Katamso Street, Ir H Juanda Street and Suprapto Street.
Now, the community is starting to feel the benefits of the presence of the 1,700 LPJUs. Surya, a resident of Medan City, one of them, said he was happy with the presence of the LPJU because it is very beneficial for pedestrians.
Moreover, so far, the street area that has been fitted with the LPJU has been a bit dark. Going forward, Surya hopes that the city of Medan can be even brighter so that it can minimize the occurrence of criminal acts.

North Sumatra Public Policy Observer, Dadang Darmawan Pasaribu, M.Sc, responded to Bobby Nasution's policy of adding 1,700 LPJUs to a number of roads in Medan City. Dadang said that in principle he could understand Bobby Nasution's intention to present 1,700 LPJUs to add to the aesthetics of the city of Medan.
"In addition, the presence of 1,700 LPJUs certainly illuminates the pedestrian area and provides a sense of security and comfort for Medan City residents," Dadang said as quoted from the written statement by the Medan City Government's Diskominfo, Tuesday, February 7.
In order for the presence of the 1,700 LPJU to be optimal, Dadang also suggested that Medan City Government can accept and absorb people's aspirations. "It is important for us to absorb the aspirations of the people, whether it is related to the work, the distance to be placed and the intended priority scale, so that the results are better and more useful," he added.
