Meta Forms a Team to Announce Donald Trump's Return Decision To His Social Media
JAKARTA - Social media giant Meta is reportedly preparing to create a team, to announce whether they will allow former President of the United States (US) Donald Trump to return to its platform.
Previously, Meta stated that it would give an answer on January 7 regarding the permit, but it is estimated that the decision will be announced at the end of this month.
According to information from one source, Meta has now formed a working group to focus on this issue.
The group includes staff from the public communications and policy teams, as well as from the content policy team led by Monika Bickert and the security and integrity team led by Guy Rosen.
Later, if Trump is approved to return to the Meta platform, he will get his Facebook and Instagram accounts again. Launching the Financial Times, Monday, January 2, the decision will then be overseen by Facebook's president of global affairs, Nick Clegg.
It will also be the most polarizing moderation decision the tech giant has ever faced. Clegg in October said the company would consider ending Trump's ban from social media.

"We believe that any private company and this is really regardless of someone's personal view of Donald Trump, should tread very carefully when trying to essentially silence the political voice," Clegg said at the time.
Trump was suspended from Facebook, Instagram and Twitter on January 6, 2021 , because he was accused of inciting violence after a group of his supporters stormed the US Capitol. This event was based on Trump's defeat in the election where Joe Biden was superior in votes.
But in November, Trump first regained access to his Twitter account after SpaceX and Tesla boss Elon Musk bought the platform.
Unfortunately, until now Trump has not used his account on the grounds that he will remain exclusively on his Truth Social platform, his followers making up a fraction of what he has on Twitter.
"I'm not going to use Twitter, I'm going to keep using TRUTH. I hope Elon buys Twitter because he's going to fix it and he's a good person, but I'm going to keep using TRUTH," Trump told Fox News months before Musk bought Twitter.
