The Bodies of 6 Kindergarten Teachers Victims of the 5.6 Magnitude Cianjur Earthquake Successfully Identified
JAKARTA - Various evacuation efforts continue to be carried out by the joint SAR Team for victims of the 5.6 magnitude earthquake that rocked Cianjur, West Java, last Monday, November 21.
On the fourth day of the evacuation process or Friday, November 25, the SAR Team managed to find 17 bodies. Of that number, there are 6 kindergarten teachers. This was conveyed by the representative of the National SAR Agency (Basarnas), Joshua Banjarnahor during a press conference held in Cianjur.
"Regarding the reports that are circulating on social media regarding kindergarten teachers, we did not mention the schools we got today. We have obtained between 9 victims who were found but only 6 can be identified, we are waiting for the identification process", explained Josua.
Joshua also asked residents and media crews not to just believe the information spread via WhatsApp or Instagram regarding the number of victims. He asked that if he received a chain message regarding the number of victims, there was no need to spread it again.
Meanwhile, according to the Head of National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB), Suharyanto, on the fourth day of the evacuation process, it was discovered that 310 people had died. Meanwhile, 24 people are still in the process of being searched.
"Well, these 24 people are still being sought, but the identities of these 24 people have been clearly identified so that later they will be found, all that's left is the missing number", he explained in a press conference quoted from the BNPB Indonesia Youtube channel, Friday, November 25.
