2 Excavator Operators Killed By Rocks In Serang Banten

CILEGON – Two excavator operators were buried under rocks while mining in Cibaga Village, Mangunreja Village, Puloampel District, Serang Regency. The Cilegon Police Satreskrim who received the report immediately went to the stone quarry site to conduct a crime scene (TKP).

Cilegon Police Chief AKBP Eko Tjahyo Untoro said the incident occurred on Tuesday 1 November at around 18.30 WIB.

"Tuesday (1 November) at around 14.30 there was a work accident at Suryadi's stone quarry in Cibaga Village, Mangunreja Village, Puloampel District, Serang Regency. The victim was KN (35) a resident of Bueuk Village, Cisangu Village, Cibadak District, Lebak Regency, and RM (52) resident of Sabrang neighborhood, Lebak Gede Village, Pulomerak District, Cilegon City," said Eko in a written statement received Wednesday night, November 2.

Eko explained that at that time the excavator operators on behalf of KN and RM were mining split stones, to be exact at around 14.00 WIB, suddenly a rock from the top of the landslide fell and hit the two excavators.

"So the KN and RM operators were crushed and buried by rocks, and died at the scene. Furthermore, the second victim was taken to the Cilegon City Regional General Hospital by using an ambulance for identification and external examination," explained Eko.

Eko said, his party is still conducting an investigation, whether a criminal element or pure accident was found.

"Regarding this incident, we are still investigating what caused the landslide which resulted in casualties. We are still examining the witnesses at the scene," concluded Eko.
