Attorney General: Don't Mess With Government Projects, If Any I Will Take Strict Action
TANJUNGPINANG - Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin appealed to his staff in the regions not to play with government projects, including the development of Special Economic Zones (SEZ) in Bintan Regency, Riau Islands.
"Again I emphasize that there should be no prosecutors playing with government projects. If there is, I will take firm action," said Burhanuddin during a visit to the Bintan District Attorney's Office (Kejari) in the Riau Islands, reported by ANTARA, Thursday, October 6.
He also asked the Riau Islands High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) for the Riau Islands and the Bintan Kejari to accompany the special economic development in the area, as well as carry out the task of supervising the implementation of the national strategic project.
The Prosecutor's Office can also be involved in providing assistance and security to ensure the project runs well, is effective, on time, and is beneficial to the local community.
"The Prosecutor's Office is paying attention to the development of tourism in Bintan, one of the areas designated as a metal SEZ, and is projected by the central government with a budget of IDR 30 trillion," he explained.
Burhanuddin along with his entourage also visited the Tanjungpinang Kejari office in the Capital of the Riau Islands Province, Tanjungpinang City.
The Attorney General also asked the Kejari Tanjungpinang to play an active role in controlling regional inflation, considering that Tanjungpinang is a trading city and logistics distribution channel, so it is vulnerable to rising prices of goods due to the global crisis.
"Once again, what you are doing is meaningless if it is not published continuously. It is not a matter of imaging, but the public and the media can measure the performance of your brothers and sisters with supervision. This is what I always emphasize in every meeting and working visit," Sanitiar Burhanuddin said.
During his working visit, Burhanuddin also monitored every field, both at the Kejari Tanjungpinang and Kejari Bintan, to provide input so that they could perform better; so that the presence of the prosecutor can be felt in the midst of the community.
