DKI Targets New Modification And Procurement Of Electric Vehicles Starting In 2023

JAKARTA - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta is targeting a modification scheme and new procurement of electric motor vehicles starting from the 2023 budget to support better air quality in the capital city.

"Some want to take modifications, some choose new procurements depending on their respective budgets," said DKI Regional Secretary Marullah Matali as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 28.

Even so, the echelon one official of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has not mentioned the amount of the budget for the modification and new procurement of electric motorized vehicles because it is being discussed.

It is planned that the electric motorized vehicle will be used to support the operational activities of the DKI Provincial Government.

"We will immediately adjust the supply of electric vehicles according to government policies," he said.

Meanwhile, the Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU), he continued, has also begun to be established in Jakarta and will mushroom in the future along with the use of electric motorized vehicles for operations.

"There are several that have been started (SPKLU). Later I think they will mushroom, hopefully in the near future," he said.

Meanwhile, DKI Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza previously revealed that the DKI Provincial Government plans to have 200 units of electric vehicles.

According to him, the official vehicle for operation with electric fuel will be carried out in stages and will continue to be added.

Riza hopes that the community will also support the government's efforts to achieve clean air quality in Jakarta, one of which is by switching to using mass public transportation.

Currently, the DKI BUMD in the field of public transportation services, TransJakarta already has 30 units of electric buses and the plan is that by the end of 2022 there will be 100 units.

The procurement of official vehicles that utilize electric power is in accordance with the Presidential Instruction of the Republic of Indonesia Number 7 of 2022 concerning the Use of Electric Vehicles to become official vehicles for central and regional government agencies.

Through the Presidential Instruction, President Jokowi ordered regional heads to formulate and establish regulations to support the acceleration of the implementation of the use of electric vehicles.
