Disguised as Buyers, Police Arrest Mobile Phone Thief at Asahan Regent's House
SUMUT - Personnel from the Jatanras Unit of the Asahan Police Satreskrim arrested a man suspected of being the perpetrator of the theft at the Asahan Regent's official residence on Sudirman Street, Mekar Baru Village, Asahan Regency, North Sumatra.
The perpetrator was I (57), a resident of Hamka Street, Kisaran Baru Village, Asahan Regency.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Asahan Police, AKP Mhd Said Husein, said the perpetrator took 1 Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 of the mystery black color which was in the drawer of the official residence of the Asahan Regent.
"The perpetrator entered the room by opening the window and damaging the iron spike, after that he opened a drawer and took a cellphone," he said in a written statement, quoted from Antara, Sunday, August 28.
Said explained, as a result of the incident, victim Cakra Bakti (42), a resident of Aksara Street, Regional Government Complex, Mekar Baru Village, West Kisaran District, Asahan Regency, suffered a loss of IDR 36 million, and reported to the Asahan Police Satreskrim.
"Based on reports from victims, officers conducted an investigation, and Friday (August 26) at around 19:00 WIB, personnel received information that the perpetrator wanted to sell the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 cellphone on Kartini Street," he said.

Furthermore, officers carried out an undercover buy alias an officer disguised himself as a buyer to buy the cellphone, and it was agreed to meet on Penegakan Street, Tebing Tinggi Kisaran Village, East Kisaran District, Asahan Regency.
"Arriving at the scene, officers met a man identified as I, and immediately arrested and confiscated evidence of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 cellphone," he added.
The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit said that during interrogation, the perpetrator admitted that he had committed theft at the Asahan Regent's official residence.
"For further investigation purposes, the perpetrator together with evidence of 1 Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 brand cellphone was brought to the Asahan Police Station," he said.
