Taipei Open 2022: Komang Ayu Smoothly Advances Into The Second Round After Pendam Deputy Host

JAKARTA — Indonesian women's singles Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi has made it to the round of 16 of the 2022 Taipei Open badminton tournament.

The ticket for the second round of the BWF Super 300 level tournament was obtained by Komang after he defeated the host women's singles Chen Su Yu 21-11 and 21-13 on Wednesday, July 20.

Komang started the struggle in this tournament from the qualifying round. Her performance then gave the advantage in the first half of the main draw.

"Today I was able to control the game, maybe because yesterday I played the qualifiers. So, I already know the conditions of the field and the wind," Komang said after the match in a statement from the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI).

Field conditions are still very windy as happened in qualifying. This situation made Komang's opponent face difficulties.

"So this is an advantage for me," she said.

In the round of 16, Komang will meet the winner between Goh Jin Wei (Malaysia) and Tanya Hemanth (India). The two women's singles have not competed at the time this news was written.

Unfortunately Komang's success failed to be followed by the men's single representative Ikhsan Leonardo Imanuel Rumbay. He had to go home early in the first round after losing to Chinese Taipei seed Wang Tzu Wei.
