Entering Pancaroba, BPBD Asks Cianjur Residents To Beware Of Heavy Rain Until Tornado

JABAR - Cianjur Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) appealed to residents in all regions to increase their awareness of the potential for extreme weather in the next few days.

Secretary of Cianjur BPBD, Rudi Wibowo said extreme weather was like strong winds and heavy rain accompanied by lightning.

"Extreme weather occurs because Cianjur is currently entering a transition period of drought. During the transition period, extreme weather is expected to occur, so the potential for disasters is quite high", he said in Cianjur, West Java, Wednesday, July 13.

Even though it has entered the transition season from rainy to dry, light rain still occurs and can trigger lightning. Rudi added, that it will be more intensive if the weather starts to dry, this happens because the hot weather suddenly rains.

Another potential, continued Rudi, would be strong winds that could cause a tornado.

"We ask the Disaster Resilient Volunteers (Retana) to intensify socialization to residents, especially in disaster-prone areas, including fishermen in the south, to reduce fishing activities for the next one week. Until now, towards evening rain has hit most of Cianjur areas", he said.

When it rains, his party asks residents to increase their vigilance by avoiding shelter under trees and buildings that are prone to collapse, including drivers avoiding parking under large, old trees.

"For the time being, avoid or temporarily stop activities in open spaces, even though the intensity of the rain is light. We also urge residents to be aware of several diseases during the transition from the rainy season to the dry season", he said.

Based on the Antara report, the Cianjur BPBD noted that over the past month, there have been many reports related to the outbreak of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF), so residents in the Cianjur area are asked to be diligent in cleaning their respective environments or ask the relevant department for fumigation or fogging.
