The Attorney General's Office Examines 2 Witnesses Regarding Waskita Beton Precast Corruption

JAKARTA - The team of prosecutors investigating the Directorate of Investigation of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes at the Attorney General's Office (Jampidsus Kejagung) examined two witnesses related to the alleged corruption case of PT Waskita Beton Precast.

"Jampidsus AGO examined two witnesses related to cases of alleged criminal acts of corruption, irregularities, and/or misappropriation in the use of PT Waskita Beton Precast funds from 2016 to 2020", said Head of the Center for Legal Information at the Attorney General's Office (Kapuspekum Kejagung), Ketut Sumedana, in a written statement, quoted by Antara, Monday, June 6.

The witnesses examined were the former Head of the Procurement Department of PT WBP with the initials KJH and the Precast Manager for the 2017 Period with the initials CW.

The two witnesses were examined in connection with the investigation of alleged criminal acts of corruption, irregularities, and/or misappropriation in the use of PT Waskita Beton Precast's funds from 2016 to 2020.

Previously, the Attorney General's Office estimated that the state's financial loss, in this case, would reach IDR 1.2 trillion. On the same occasion, the Attorney General's Office also raised the status of the case from an investigation to an investigation.

There were also several irregularities in the implementation of the use of funds by Waskita Beton, which occurred in the Kriyan Legundi Bunder and Manyar (KLM) Toll Road construction project, the work to produce Tetrapods from PT Semutama, the procurement of split stones with the provider PT Misi Mulia Metrical (PT MMM), and procurement of sand by partners on behalf of PT Mitra Usaha Rakyat or PT MUR.

In addition, Ketut Sumedana also stated that there were problems with the sale and purchase of land for the Bojonegara Plant, Serang, Banten.

The investigating prosecutor's team has also conducted searches in three locations, namely the Head Office of PT Waskita Beton Precast, Tbk. on Wednesday, May 18, and the Karawang Plant in Karawang and the Bojonegara Plant in Serang on Thursday, May 19.

"Based on the results of the search, the investigating prosecutor's team has confiscated documents", said Sumedana.
