Despite The Drastic Increase To 23 Hectare, BPBD, TNI And Police Successfully Defuse Peatland Fires In Nagan Raya
NAGAN RAYA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh Province, noted that 23 hectares of peatland located in Pulo Kruet Village, Darul Makmur District, Nagan Raya Regency has now been burned.
Whereas in the previous week, the area of land burned was only about seven hectares.
Secretary of BPBD Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh Province, Said Nazaruddin said, from the total area of land that had been burned, an area of 20 hectares had been extinguished.
"Only three more hectares are we continuing to try to extinguish," said Said Nazaruddin in Nagan Raya as reported by Antara, Monday, May 30.
He said that efforts to extinguish the fire at the location of the peatland fire involved personnel from the Nagan Raya BPBD, TNI, Polri, Forestry Police, employees of plantation companies and the community.
Said Nazaruddin said the increase in the area of land fires in Nagan Raya was due to the addition of a new fire location about one kilometer from the initial location of the fire.
To extinguish it, his party also directed the water pump machine, and together with the TNI-Polri the community was assisted to extinguish the fire at the fire location.
