Square Enix President Reaffirms His Desire To Create A Play-to-Earn Blockchain Game

JAKARTA - Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda recently reiterated his desire to create a play-to-earn blockchain game in an interview with Yahoo Japan.

In the same interview, he said that focusing solely on traditional games would not be enough for the company going forward. Matsuda previously said Square Enix could create its own cryptocurrency

"In the future, we want to try to provide autonomous game content", the president told Yahoo, quoted from VGC on Monday, April 18.

“Until now, in most games we provided content as a finished product and players played the content. However, there are a number of players in the world who want to contribute to making the game more interesting, by creating new settings and ways of playing", he added.

This Final Fantasy developer says that he wants to harness the power of people to create games that will continue to thrive in the future.

“If, rather than relying on goodwill, we can also incentivize those who contribute to development by leveraging technologies such as blockchain, there is a possibility that innovative and engaging content can be created from users' ideas", he said.
