Police Arrest 9 Leeds Fans After Throwing Objects At Anthony Elanga
JAKARTA - Police said on Monday they had arrested nine people following incidents of throwing objects at Manchester United players during Sunday's 4-2 Premier League win over Leeds United.
Second-half goals from substitutes Fred and Anthony Elanga won Manchester the heat of the day. While celebrating Fred's goal, the academy graduate - Elanga - looked like he was hit by something.
Manchester United and Leeds have had a fierce rivalry for many years. Their encounter is sometimes called the Pennines derby.
"There was no significant disruption but there were a few incidents at Leeds City Center ahead of the match and a few minor incidents throughout the match," West Yorkshire police said in a statement.
"Sufficient numbers of officers were deployed to quickly intervene to identify and apprehend those responsible and prevent an escalation of chaos."
"The majority of fans from both sides behaved reasonably throughout the game and there were no significant disturbances, but we hope that early intervention and positive action will help send a very clear message," added Deputy Chief Constable Russ Foster.

According to media reports, the Football Association is aware of the incident involving Elanga and is investigating it. Meanwhile, Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick and Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa condemned the actions of the supporters involved.
"Obviously things like that shouldn't happen and I think more than that in this game the atmosphere was great at a time when we had to cool off," Rangnick said.
Bielsa said after the game that he had not seen the incident but added that violence in football was "unjustified".
