The Basketball National Team Begins To Hold A Training Center For The FIBA World Cup 2023 Qualifications
JAKARTA - The Indonesian national basketball team has started holding a training camp. A total of 21 players took part in the activity which took place at the GBK Arena, Jakarta.
This training camp is in preparation for the second window of the 2023 FIBA World Cup Qualifications. Indonesia is scheduled to meet Saudi Arabia on February 24 and three days later to meet Jordan.
"There are a total of 21 players for this training camp, but 12 players will depart for Saudi Arabia later," said National Team Agency Secretary Cyrus Harsaningtyas in an official statement from the Executive Board of the Indonesian Basketball Association PP Perbasi on Thursday.
The purpose of calling players whose number is almost double the number that will be dispatched is to anticipate possible injuries or players who will later test positive for COVID-19.
There are three players who previously abroad had also joined in Jakarta. They are Lester Prosper, Brandon Jawato, and Agassi Goentara.
"As of February 9, all the players who were called to join the training camp have started to enter the hotel to be kept there until the team's departure," said Cyrus.

The Indonesian national basketball team will leave Jakarta for Saudi Arabia on the evening of Sunday, February 20.
Rajko Toroman's team is expected to get better results in the qualification this time. Previously, Indonesia had to accept two defeats when they met Lebanon in November last year.
The training camp was held early due to the postponement of the second series in Bandung. The series was supposed to finish on February 5, but a spike in COVID-19 cases forced organizers to postpone the competition until early March.
