Viral! Driver's License Making Services Available on Shopee

JAKARTA - One of the Indonesian e-commerce sites, Shopee was found to allow users to provide online driving license (SIM) creation services by submitting the applicant's personal data.

One Twitter user with the username @emerson_yuntho uploaded a screenshot showing the A, C, B1, and B2 SIM-making services.

"Want to get a SIM but don't want to come and bother going to SATPAS? Just send a photo of yourself and an ID card. Valid for all Indonesian ID cards. There is a solution at @ShopeeID. Cc @DivHumas_Polri @TMCLantasPOLRI @NTMCPoldaMetro @SaberPungliRI", tweeted @emerson_yuntho.

Services like this are actually quite dangerous for the people who use these services. Because the service provider asks for personal data in the form of an ID card and a photo of yourself. Personal data can be misused by irresponsible people, even worse, it can be used for online loans.

As stated by the Director of Governance of the Directorate General of Informatics Applications at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Mariam F. Barata, he emphasized that people should not easily give personal data to other parties and be careful in protecting personal data.

"We need to provide literacy to the public so that they never give out our personal data to anyone unless we really have a purpose or something that is trusted", Mariam said some time ago.

Mariam stated that the public is obliged to maintain their personal data while at the same time asking not to easily share information in cyberspace because it can be used by irresponsible parties.

If you want to make a SIM online and don't want to queue, you should make one through the official Polri website, namely http://sim.korlantas.polri.go.id, or through the SINAR application, but the applicant still has to come to the Satpas to take the trial exam.
