JAKARTA - The Indonesian government inaugurated a data center with a global standard JK6, with a capacity of 36 megawatts, which was built by PT DCI Indonesia Tbk (DCII) in the MM2100 industrial area, Cibitung, Bekasi Regency, West Java.
During the inauguration, Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid stated that this data center was not only a milestone in technology infrastructure, but also the main node for managing Indonesia's strategic data.
"We appreciate the JK6 process which we heard was built through more than 3 million working hours and almost 8 thousand Indonesian children's workers. This is proof that the nation's children are able to design and build a global standard data center," Meutya said in her official statement quoted on Wednesday, June 4.
JK6 is one of the largest data centers in Southeast Asia. Its existence is expected to be able to become the backbone of storage, processing, and exchange of cross-sectoral data, ranging from public services to artificial intelligence technology (AI).
He explained that the construction of a data center is an integral part of the national digital transformation strategy that is being intensified by the government.
