There Are 30,000 Accounts Indicated For Online Gambling, Here's How To Fund For Fighting Judol

JAKARTA - It is undeniable that the presence of digital wallets (e-wallet) such as DANA, GoPay, OVO, and so on, provides convenience for the public to access financial transactions online anytime and anywhere.

But unfortunately, this convenience is actually used as a transaction tool for illegal online gambling activities. Commenting on this trend, DANA admitted that he had reported around 30,000 accounts indicated online gambling to Bank Indonesia and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPTAK) to block it.

"That's right, since 2023 we have seen an increase in inappropriate transactions. At one point, we have reported more than 30,000 users who are indicated to be online gambling," said Dina Artarini, Chief of Legal and Compliance DANA Indonesia in a public discussion of the Technology Journalists Forum (Forwat) X DANA Breaking the Online Gambling Chain for a Healthy Digital Ecosystem some time ago.

In addition to blocking users' personal accounts, Dina also revealed that they had cut off business relations with more than 500 merchants, who were proven to be involved in online gambling activities in Indonesia.

However, DANA continues to try to reduce the number of online gambling transactions on its platform, through Fraud Detection System (FDS) technology or through various advanced security features such as DANA Protection.

With the capabilities of Scam Checker in the DANA Protection feature, Dina said there are at least 50,000 searches each month, where users also investigate suspicious social media accounts, numbers, and links.

Dina also emphasized that the handling of the negative impact of online gambling needs support from all cross-sectors such as collaboration with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi), Bank Indonesia, as well as the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK).
