JAKARTA - Apple introduced a new internal design on the iPhone 16 which provides huge profits in terms of repair. According to Apple, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus have been "redesigned" to make battery replacement easier and offer improved performance and heat management.

In an iPhone 16 press release, Apple stated that this internal design allows for greater and better battery usage in spreading heat, while facilitating battery replacement services.

This is in line with the details shared by Apple during a special event on Monday 9 September, where they highlight a new thermal design that allows for higher performance in a sustainable manner, especially during gaming.

The iPhone 16 also uses new system optimization, including updates on major logic boards that concentrate chip placement and optimize the surrounding architecture. In addition, a new thermal structure made of 100% recycled aluminum is added to help spread heat, which results in an increase in sustainable performance by up to 30%.

Although Apple has not confirmed the use of previously reported debonding adhesive technology to facilitate battery replacement, further details are expected to be revealed when the ta'erdown from iFixit comes this month. This change comes ahead of the European Union law in 2025 which requires Apple to make iPhone batteries easier to replace.

Interestingly, Apple's press release for the iPhone 16 Pro did not mention any changes to the ease of battery replacement for the model.
