JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kemkominfo) has asked the public not to publish video and photo content related to the suicide bombing at the Makassar Cathedral Church. This actually provoked a crowd of commotion.

"The Ministry of Communication and Informatics urges the public not to disseminate content, whether in the form of videos or photos containing violent activities, body pieces, injuries, and other content that is not appropriate for sharing with the public," said Ministry of Communication and Information spokesman Dedy Permadi, Sunday, 28 March.

Dedy hopes that digital space such as social media and short message applications will not be used to disseminate content as intended.

"The Ministry of Communication and Informatics believes that terrorism activities in the physical and digital space cannot be tolerated and must be anticipated with the collective work of all components of the nation," he said.

A similar appeal was issued by the Mayor of Makassar, Moh. Ramdhan Pomanto. He said, uploading and distributing images to social media networks is part of an effort to weaken society.

"We ask residents to remain calm and leave the process to the security apparatus. We also ask residents not to post pictures of explosions, let alone blast victims," said Danny Pomanto.

The suicide bombing took place at the gate of the Cathedral Church on Kajaolalido Street, MH Thamrin, Makassar City. As a result of the explosion, 14 people from the church security unit were injured and are undergoing treatment in a number of hospitals.
