JAKARTA - Currently, all parts of the world are focusing on discussing the set-up of responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. However, there is no definite policy regarding copyright about content created with AI.

According to ASEAN's Head of SA, AWS Paul Chen, until now several countries are still actively discussing the AI rules. According to him, AI is a new technology that still needs to be studied more deeply.

"Actually, yesterday in the US, there was a consortium that sat together. But they are still in discussion. The AI produced is still very new. Nothing is concrete in terms of legislation and all that. So it's still an ongoing job," Paul told VOI in a media workshop with AWS on Tuesday, August 27.

However, Paul highlighted how important points on AI rules were made. Because according to him, after all, later the regulation will be implemented, the regulation should not hinder the innovations produced by AI.

"But one very interesting thing that is also mentioned, while they think about how to understand the genes and organize them, they also fundamentally say that whatever the regulations are, they shouldn't block the innovative part of the gene-AI," he continued.

Then, who will be responsible for the content produced by AI? Paul revealed that apart from perpetrators or developers, regulators also play an important role in this responsibility.

He made an analogy on how AWS must be responsible to its consumers with the technology it has, by helping customers understand standards and also providing assistance where these standards should be adopted.

"We did half the work. The other half, we gave it to them (customers). But in reality, regulators are still responsible for the problem itself," he said.
