Google Will Present Drag-and-Drop Features On Chrome For Android

JAKARTA - Google is rumored to be introducing drag-and-drop support for Chrome browsers on Android soon. This feature, already in the desktop version of Chrome, allows users to move files in browsers and between apps, and will debut in the Dev Chrome channel release (version 129).

According to MSPOweruser, this feature will allow users to move files from one location to another within the browser, as well as from a browser to another app. The "Enable DragDrop living for M129" commitment is found in Chromium, suggesting that this feature will soon be available for testing.

In addition, this update is also expected to include changes to the "Recent Searches" feature. The "Enable request related searches" commitment suggests that users may be able to view related searches when typing. While there is no guarantee that this feature will be widely available on the stable channel, Google may launch it if user feedback shows a significant increase in user experience.

Drag-and-drop features on Android devices, as will be introduced on Chrome for Android, work in the following way:

1. Drag-and-Drop activation: Once this feature is enabled, users can perform drag-and-drop actions directly within the application or between applications that support this feature.

2. Move Elements: Users can press and hold elements such as images, text, or files within the application. When the element is touched and detained, the user will see an icon or visual indicator showing that the element can be moved.

3. Drag Elements: Once elements are suppressed and detained, users can shift them to the desired position in the same application or to other applications. For example, users can draw images from the photo gallery to the messaging app or image editor.

4. Drop Elements: Once the element reaches its destination, the user releases the element (drops it) in the desired position. The application will then process the element according to the intended action, such as inserting an image into the message or opening files in the new application.

5. Compatibility and Support: To support drag-and-drop, apps need to update their interface in order to be compatible with this feature. Applications that do not support drag-and-drop may not be able to receive dragged elements, or this feature may not work properly in these applications.

6. Integration with Operating Systems: On Android, drag-and-drop features can also take advantage of operating systems to facilitate data transfer between apps. This allows users to perform more complex actions, such as dragging text from a note application to a document application.

The drag-and-drop feature in Chrome for Android allows users to easily move files or elements within the browser or between apps, increasing productivity and efficiency in interacting with their Android devices.
