Apple Vision Pro Will Use Developed OLED Tandem Screen Technology For New IPad Pro

JAKARTA - Apple Vision Pro may use Tandem OLED screen technology, a display panel technique also applied to the latest iPad Pro M4.

Apple's introduction of the iPad Pro M4 brings many changes, including to display technology. Instead of using mini-LED backlighting, Apple switched to a display system called Tandem OLED. Now, it seems that Samsung and LG Display are trying to implement Tandem OLED on Micro OLED panels, according to a JOrnal remnant report released on Wednesday, July 31.

The OLED Tandem is a technique that uses two OLED layers, with the buildup of the layer providing increased brightness and power efficiency. Samsung and LG plan to apply this technique to the Micro OLED display.

Micro OLED is a very small pixel display, with pixel densities reaching thousands of pixels per inch. This is a level of resolution used by companies like Apple to generate views on Apple Vision Pro, which requires high resolution on small displays.

Micro OLED uses silicon substrates instead of glasses to increase resolution, but it doesn't always help in terms of luminosity. Using the Tandem OLED technique with Micro OLED should result in a much brighter look.

When will Samsung and LG introduce the appearance of the Tandem OLED Mini is still unclear and depends on the company's investment to commercialize it. LG seems to have an advantage in the OLED Tandem, as it has used it for automotive products as well as the iPad Pro OLED model. The Samsung Display also produces an OLED Tandem panel for Apple and gradually takes on a larger market share in the delivery of the iPad Pro display.

For the current generation of Apple Vision Pro, the appearance of Micro OLED is supplied by Sony. The exact schedule regarding when this technology will be applied to the next Vision Pro is unclear, but it is estimated that it will take several years, if that happens.
