JAKARTA When launching the Beta version of Android 15, Google announced a variety of new features. One of them is a mobile phone detection tool that is forced to get out of the hands of its owner. Now, the feature is being tested. Reporting from The Verge, this security feature is being tested in Brazil because the country is known as a hotbed for theft of smartphones. All Android phone users in the country can register themselves to participate in testing. Google calls this security feature the Key to Detective Theft. Using Artificial Intelligence (AI), this feature will recognize shock movements as an indication of ongoing theft attempts. In addition to suspecting sudden movements, Theft Detective Key will recognize attempts to steal when a cell phone is used on the network or when the phone is off the network for a very long time. When this feature detects unusual movements or actions, the system will lock the screen automatically. This is done so that thieves cannot access information on the device or even use specific applications for malicious purposes.

Although this feature is tested on Android 15, Google will roll out its features to mobile phones with a longer version of the operating system (OS). Reportedly, this feature will run on Android 10 or a newer Android system. It is not yet known whether Google plans to test its features to other countries in the near future. However, the company plans to launch the Key To Theft Detective feature via Google Play's layout update later this year.
