JAKARTA Ciena, a network system provider, shared the results of the latest global studies regarding the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The results of the study show that AI is increasingly being utilized by communication service providers (CSP). From a survey conducted by market research consultant Censuswide, 60 percent of the 1,500 experts and CSP managers in 17 different countries believe that the application of AI can increase network operational efficiency by 40 percent. Actually, each CSP has a different network performance improvement strategy, one of which is by updating the software. However, 99 percent of CSP believes that optical fiber networks need to be improved to support AI traffic. Globally, AI traffic is believed to be able to increase revenue in the financial, media and entertainment services sectors, to manufacturing. However, 46 percent of respondents believe that AI will provide many advantages in the financial sector. By increasing the use of AI, the necessary employment fields are growing. CSP argues that the launch of AI services requires cybersecurity teams, machine learning, as well as programming or coding.

Meanwhile, surveys show different results in various countries, including in Indonesia. From the findings of Ciena and Censuswide, 54 percent of CSP in Indonesia believes that 400G optical technology needs to be improved to support AI traffic. Furthermore, 81 percent of CSP in Indonesia believes that AI causes a net increase in service provider work. Not only that, 95 percent of operators believe they can monetize AI traffic on their network.
