JAKARTA - Google is updating its inappropriate Content Policy on Google Ads, which explicitly prohibits advertisers from promoting websites and services that produce pornography using deepfakes.
"In May 2024, Google Ads' inappropriate Content policy will be updated to prohibit the promotion of synthetic content that has been changed or created to be sexually vulgar or nudity," Google wrote in an update on its official website.
The advertisements in question are such as advertisements related to sites or applications that claim to make deepfake pornography, instructions on how to make deepfake pornography, and support or compare deepfake pornography services with others.
If a violation is found related to this policy, Google insists that they will seriously handle the case as a serious violation.
"If we find a violation of this policy, we will suspend your Google Ads account when a violation is detected and without prior warning, and you will not be allowed to advertise with us again," the search giant said.

Since there is a new policy, Google allows advertisers to learn more to determine whether their ads are included in policy change coverage or not.
If advertisers find that the ad violates this new policy, then Google gives it time and advises advertisers to remove the ad before May 30, 2024.
Policies prohibiting the creation or distribution of synthetic content that has been changed or created to be sexually vulgar or contain nudity will take effect on May 30, 2024.
