Kaspersky: Government Often Targets Cyber Attacks With High Severity Levels

JAKARTA - According to the Managed Detection and Response (MDR) team in Kaspersky, more than two cyber incidents with a high severity involving humans directly have occurred per day in 2023.

Kaspersky's annual Managed Detection and Response (MDR) report also highlights the tactics, techniques, and tools most commonly used by cybercriminals over the past year in various regions.

According to the report, 22.9 percent of all cyber incidents with a high severity detected occurred in the government sector. Then followed by IT companies occupying second place (15.4 percent).

Then, followed by financial companies and the industrial sector in third and fourth place with each sector reporting 14.9 percent and 11.8 percent of incidents occurring.

Furthermore, based on the nature of the incident, Kaspersky's report states that of the total cyber incidents that occurred, nearly 25 percent of them were caused by humans.

However, the percentage of malware attacks that resulted in serious consequences slightly decreased in 2023 compared to previous years, which was about 12 percent of the total reported critical incidents.
