JAKARTA - Cybersecurity firm Kaspersky found that fraud on behalf of the boss or office boss urging employees as victims was nothing new.

This type of fraud is even easier to believe than on behalf of foreigners, banks, or the police to trick their victims into carrying out their crimes.

To protect yourself from such a type of scam, Kaspersky provides the following tips:

The first and most important thing, the attention and courage to verify information despite threats from fraudsters is the key that can protect you from this kind of attack.

While others insist that you don't close your phone, you can always pretend that the call is cut off. This will give you time to do more fact checking.

Pay attention to the address of the sender, phone, and username. If you are used to responding with your superiors via email, but suddenly you receive instant messages on their behalf of unknown numbers, this is what you should be suspected of.

Pay attention to small details. If someone you know is close to strange requests, pay attention to their email details, calls to each other, or you can ask about something that real people only know.

Beware of danger signs. If your superiors or co-workers urge you to do something unusual, and keep it a secret, this is almost always a sign of fraud. Therefore, it is important for you to verify the information obtained and confirm the identity of the other party.

Ask colleagues. Although asked to maintain confidentiality, depending on the nature of the request, there is nothing wrong with verifying the information with colleagues.

Warn colleagues and local law enforcement. If their tricks don't work out on you, they will try the next way, namely by targeting your organization and co-workers. Warn colleagues for security, and report the fraud attempt to the police.
