JAKARTA - After launching Gemini 1.0 weeks ago, now Google is preparing to introduce Gemini's next generation, Gemini 1.5, with a number of major upgrades.

Through an increase in the amount of information that can be processed by their AI model, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that Gemini 1.5 has a longer context understanding than ever before.

That is, Gemini 1.5 can handle much bigger questions and see more information at once.

The search giant claims that Gemini 1.5 comes with a larger number of tokens, which is up to 1 million tokens. When compared to 128,000 at OpenAI GPT-4 and 32,000 at the current Gemini Pro.

Gemini 1.5 provides a dramatic improvement in performance. This represents a step of change in our approach, based on research and technical innovation in almost every part of our development of basic models and infrastructure," said Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind.

The first Gemini 1.5 model released for preliminary testing was the Gemini 1.5 Pro. Demis said that the Gemini 1.5 Pro provides comparable results to Gemini 1.0 Ultra, but works more efficiently, and with lower computational requirements.

Starting today, some group of company developers and customers can try it with a context window of up to 1 million tokens through AI Studio and Vertex AI in a personal preview.
