JAKARTA – Google announced new features for Workspace Education at Bett 2024, the global education technology exhibition. This update will be added to the Chromebook operating system.

Reporting from 9to5google, Google will add a calendar in the Shelf or toolbar under the Chromebook screen. This calendar can be accessed directly when the user clicks on the date listed next to the watch face.

Simultaneously with the launch of the calendar in the date section, Google will add a new widget for Google Classroom. This widget will display a Google Classroom user's assignments with options Due Soon, No Due Date, Missing, and Completed.

When these various options are clicked, the widget will display various tasks related to the selected option. In addition to creating useful widgets to remind you of assignments, Google will add several features to help students learn.

These features are Optical Character Recognition (OCR), read aloud text-to-speech (TTS), and line focus. These three features will launch next year, but the natural-sounding TTS feature will launch in the coming months.

Apart from launching new features for students using Chromebooks, Google is also providing various new features to help teachers. They added a Resources tab in Google Classroom to create, manage, and share videos to interactive materials.

Educators in Google Classroom can also share a link to the Classwork page. With this system, teachers can simplify the learning process. Students can also participate in learning better.

Finally, Google will add AI features to help educators create lesson plans in Docs, create images in Slides, and create project plans in Sheets.
