Police: Many Vehicles Return To Jakarta At Christmas 2024

JAKARTA - The National Police noted an increase in the mobility of vehicles leading to Jakarta at Christmas 2024. Thus, it indicates that there will be a backflow.

The increase in vehicle mobility is based on the results of monitoring the 2024 Candle Operation as of December 25.

"The increase in the volume of vehicles, especially the backflow, shows that there is a movement of people who are starting to return to Jakarta," said Spokesperson for Operation Candle 2024, Kombes Syamsu Ridwan in his statement, Thursday, December 26.

The increasing mobility of vehicles entering Jakarta occurred at four Toll Gates (GT), among others, GT Cikampek Utama as many as 12,296 vehicles, GT Kalihurip Utama as many as 14,930 vehicles.

Then, there were 15,464 vehicles heading to Jakarta via Cikupa GT, and Ciawi GT around 16,688 vehicles.

On the other hand, Syamsu also said that during the five days of the 2024 Candle Operation, 167 traffic accidents were recorded. Around 203 people suffered minor injuries.

"There were 34 people who died, 24 people were seriously injured, and 203 people were lightly injured," he said.

Therefore, the National Police reminds the public to always ensure the condition of physical health and vehicles. The goal is to ensure safety on the way.

"Make sure the vehicle is in prime condition, getting enough rest, and obeying traffic rules. Together, we can ensure that the Christmas and New Year holidays run smoothly and are full of happiness," said Syamsu.
