JAKARTA Sales from Huawei helped increase mobile phone distribution in China in October. From Counterpoint's research, Huawei managed to increase sales by 11 percent.

Data shared by Counterpoint, an industry product research firm, stated that Huawei was a major contributor to the average year-on-year (yoy) growth in October due to its 83 percent increase in sales.

The majority of these sales are supported by their latest smartphone series, namely the Huawei Mate 60. This phone was launched last August using its own production chip.

The most prominent thing in October was Huawei with a change of course through the Mate 60 series. Its growth was extraordinary," said China Counterpoint Analyst Archie Zhang, quoted by VOI from Reuters.

In line with the hectic talks of the Huawei Mate 60, production demand for this device has reached double digits. Zhang said, "We see a halloffect, with another model of a well-performing vendor."

Although so far the demand for Mate 60 is quite good, Huawei still has to be careful with production issues. Counterpoint said that the current production rate is the main determinant in their growth and expansion of the market.

Before Mate 60 arrived, cell phone sales in China had decreased by 3 percent over several quarters. This decline continued for up to two months before the launch of Mate 60.

Now, China should be happy as sales of mobile phones from their country are on the rise. Apart from Huawei, Xiaomi also contributed with an increase in sales reaching 33 percent.
