JAKARTA - YouTube's crackdown on those who use ad blocking appears to be successful. The reason is, many blocking companies reported their losses.
Since the policy for ad blocking was issued earlier this month, several advertising blocking companies have said thousands of people have stopped installing their apps.
This happens because YouTube poses a threat to people who use ad blocking while watching on their apps. Not only limiting access, YouTube will suspend the user's account.
In Wired's report, one of the companies under the name AdGuard has lost more than 52,000 users. Their products have been removed from Chrome's extension since last October 9 and culminated when YouTube implemented its new policy.
Another affected company from the YouTube update is Ghostery. Since last October, the number of installations and removals continues to be the same as per day.

From the survey the company conducted, more than 90 percent of users removed the installation because the blocking could no longer be used to watch videos on YouTube.
However, Engadget reports that this new YouTube policy only has an impact on Chrome users. About 30 percent of Ghostery users turn to Edge Microsoft to watch YouTube and keep using its blockers.
