Mede Total, the hometown of the modern coffee industry in Colombia, where Luis Garcia, a coffee lover, tries to create traces of him. Since the launch of his start-up, Lightning Koffee, in October 2022, Garcia has two goals: serving a delicious cup of coffee and spreading a message about Bitcoin.

The seeds, which he calls "The Bitcoiners Coffee," are supplied and processed locally and are known to have a distinctive sweet taste. Garcia believes his Colombia coffee can be a bridge for fellow Paisa (as residents of Mede total) to reduce their dependence on unstable Columbia celebrities and further support the use of Bitcoin.

"We have the best coffee in the world and I want my coffee brand to spread a message about Bitcoin so other businesses will start accepting it too," Garcia said in an interview with Cointelegraph.

He added that this would "help boost the Bitcoin circular economy" where only Bitcoin is traded in exchange for goods and services.

Currently, Lightning Koffee has not received fiat (conventional money), but received cryptocurrencies other than Bitcoin. However, Garcia said he was a Bitcoin maximumist and immediately converted another token into Bitcoin.

"If someone is going to pay me for a cryptocurrency that is not worth it, I will accept it because in the end, it is money. Then I immediately converted it into Bitcoin, that's what I'm interested in," Garcia said.

Garcia said he would soon start accepting fiat payments through Mastercard and Visa cards, that's when he plans to stop accepting cryptocurrencies that are not Bitcoin.

Lightning Koffee joins other businesses in Mede Total which combines crypto and consumer goods. In June 2022, Mind Cafe, or "Crypto Cafe," became one of the restaurants focused on El Poblado's first cryptocurrency, the Mede total tourist area.

In addition to accepting Bitcoin and Lightning payments, the cafe offers customers the opportunity to engage in a metaverse-themed environment where they can create their own avatars and buy Columbia coffee or traditional food with Bitcoin.

Garcia is part of a group of local Bitcoiners joining forces to help promote the Bitcoin circular economy in the city, and every month more and more new people emerge in the community.
