JAKARTA - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tanjung Priok Port Police arrested a perpetrator of motorcycle theft with a modus operandi of fraud against an online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver from Tambun, Bekasi Regency. Tanjung Priok Harbor Police Chief AKBP Aris Wibowo said the perpetrator was arrested in the Pademangan area, North Jakarta, after the police conducted a search and analysis based on the victim's statement.

Upon arriving at the Port Health Office, the perpetrator asked the victim to get off the motorcycle on the grounds that he would pick up his colleague. However, the perpetrator actually took away the vehicle.

Armed with the victim's report and the results of a quick investigation, the Tanjung Priok Port Police Criminal Investigation Unit managed to arrest the perpetrator within about two hours after the incident.
"About two hours after the report was received, the Satreskrim team managed to uncover the perpetrator and secure the evidence of the victim's two-wheeled vehicle," said Aris.
Currently, the perpetrator has been detained and undergoing further legal proceedings. The police charged WS with an article related to the crime of fraud and/or embezzlement with a maximum prison sentence of four years.
