Ojol was tricked by a passenger at Tanjung Priok Port, 2 hours after the report was made, the perpetrator was arrested.

JAKARTA - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tanjung Priok Port Police arrested a perpetrator of motorcycle theft with a modus operandi of fraud against an online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver from Tambun, Bekasi Regency. The perpetrator with the initials WS was arrested only two hours after acting in the area of Jalan Pelabuhan Nusantara II, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta.

Tanjung Priok Harbor Police Chief AKBP Aris Wibowo said the perpetrator was arrested in the Pademangan area, North Jakarta, after the police conducted a search and analysis based on the victim's statement.

"The victim immediately told us about the incident. We from the Criminal Investigation Unit then conducted a search from the crime scene to several locations and based on the information and analysis carried out by the team, the perpetrator was successfully secured in the Pademangan area, North Jakarta," Aris told reporters, Monday, June 22.

In addition to arresting the perpetrator, the police also managed to secure evidence in the form of a motorcycle belonging to the victim that had not yet been sold.

This case was revealed when the victim with the initials S was in front of the Port Health Office, not far from the Tanjung Priok Port Police. At that time, the police officers who saw the victim asked about the condition and the incident he experienced.

The victim then admitted that he had just been a victim of fraud or embezzlement of his vehicle. After receiving the report, officers immediately conducted an investigation.

Aris explained that the incident began when the victim, who worked as an ojol driver, received a travel request from the perpetrator in the Tambun Station area to the Muara Baru Port, North Jakarta.

Upon arrival at Muara Baru, the perpetrator asked to take turns riding a motorcycle for various reasons. The perpetrator then invited the victim back to the Tanjung Priok Port area under the pretext of wanting to meet his colleagues.

On the way, the perpetrator claimed to work on a ship and promised a reward of Rp. 600 thousand to the victim after the trip was completed.

Upon arriving at the Port Health Office, the perpetrator asked the victim to get off the motorcycle on the grounds that he would pick up his colleague. However, the perpetrator actually took away the vehicle.

Not only the motorcycle, the perpetrator also took the victim's bag containing a wallet, SIM, STNK, and mobile phone.

Armed with the victim's report and the results of a quick investigation, the Tanjung Priok Port Police Criminal Investigation Unit managed to arrest the perpetrator within about two hours after the incident.

"About two hours after the report was received, the Satreskrim team managed to uncover the perpetrator and secure the evidence of the victim's two-wheeled vehicle," said Aris.

Currently, the perpetrator has been detained and undergoing further legal proceedings. The police charged WS with an article related to the crime of fraud and/or embezzlement with a maximum prison sentence of four years.
