JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has temporarily stopped the activities of two companies, namely PT MNS and PT TFDI, in Siak Regency, Riau, because both companies have been proven to use the sea without permission.

Director General of Marine Resources and Fisheries Monitoring (PSDKP) of the KKP, Pung Nugroho Saksono, emphasized that every business actor who utilizes the sea must have a document of Approval of Compliance for Marine Use Activities (PKKPRL) to maintain the sustainability of coastal and marine ecosystems.

"We support investments and business activities that provide benefits for the community. However, all activities must be carried out in accordance with applicable regulations," said Pung Nugroho as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, June 22.

Pung explained that the temporary suspension carried out on Thursday (18/6) was a follow-up to the results of the patrol of the KP HIU 01 surveillance ship.

Based on the examination and confirmation with the management, PT MNS which is a domestic investor and PT TFDI which is a foreign investor proved to have built facilities on the sea area with a total area of approximately 6,000 square meters without the required permit.

Meanwhile, the Director of Marine Resources Supervision Sumono Darwinto, who directly led the sealing in the field, detailed that each company built facilities in the sea area of 3,000 square meters.

"This temporary suspension is in accordance with the provisions of Government Regulation Number 21 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Spatial Planning and the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Regulation Number 30 of 2021 concerning the Supervision of the Sea Space," said Sumono.

Furthermore, Sumono explained that officers in the field had installed seal boards at a number of points.

In the PT MNS area, sealing was carried out at two locations, namely in the construction area of the slipway (ship pulling stand) and the construction of the pier which was carried out through the activity of piling.

Meanwhile, in the PT TFDI area, sealing was carried out at four locations which were the company's special terminal (tersus).

However, Sumono said that both companies were cooperative and committed to immediately taking care of licensing obligations in accordance with applicable regulations.

KKP stated that it would continue to ensure that every activity of the utilization of marine space runs according to the rules in order to realize orderly, legal and sustainable marine space governance.
